Mini Pumpkin Pies

After having so much fun making miniature cherry pies over the summer, I knew I wanted to try making mini pumpkin pies for fall treats. I came across a recipe for Pumpkin Pie Bites on Bakerella and fell in love with her idea of turning the mini pies into mini jack-o-lanterns! These little pies will be perfect to serve at my annual Halloween party this year. I packaged up my first test batch into cute little boxes and gave them to coworkers and friends. They loved them! Pumpkin Place Cards

Every year, in addition to carving pumpkins, I like to paint mini pumpkins as table decoration for my annual halloween party. Last year I painted Day-of-the-Dead skulls on a few pumpkins for a table centerpiece. This year, I thought it would be fun to have a mini pumpkin at each table setting with each guest's name hand-painted on the pumpkin. They were so simple to make. I bought the pumpkins at my local grocery store and used black acrylic paint and a small paintbrush to add the names to each … [read more...]

DIY Candy Filled Pumpkin Favors

These candy-filled pumpkins are so cute and fun to make. I originally got the idea from Martha Stewart's Cherry Bomb Wedding Favor How-To. Martha's how-to says these are "a cinch to make" but it took a little practice for me to get the hang of it. After making 4 duds, I came up with these beauties! Tools & Supplies: • Orange tissue paper • Scissors • … [read more...]

And it makes me feel better knowing that the little ones will be getting a serving of whole grains and not even know it! Ingredients: • 4 cups Chex Mix cereal • 2 cups … [read more...]

It’s Showtime!

Every year, when summer ends and the leaves begin to change color, us local Portlanders savor the last few sunny days before winter (and rain) truly arrives to the Pacific NW. When the chilly autumn nights arrive, one of my favorite indoor activities is getting out my collection of fall and winter themed movies. A good movie and a puzzle or crochet project is my favorite way to relax on cold winter nights. October is the perfect beginning to this weekly tradition of curling up on the couch and … [read more...]

My favorite part of party planning is deciding on the menu and making simple crafty decorations to match. This year I've decided to serve cupcakes for dessert and decorate them with these fun cupcake toppers. When hosting any … [read more...]
