With Super Bowl Sunday just weeks away, I’ve had my eye out for new snack ideas to serve on game day. In addition to the traditional chicken wings and sandwich sliders, I’ll be serving up these Individual 7-Layer Dips for my friends and family. These single serving dip cups are fun to make and perfect for kids and those of us who love to double dip!
Individual 7-Layer Dips
Adapted from The Girl Who Ate Everything
Makes 8 servings• 1 can refried beans
• 1 package taco seasoning
• 1 cup guacamole
• 1 container sour cream
• 1 cup chunky salsa
• 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
• 3 Roma tomatoes, diced
• 4 green onions, sliced
• 1 small can of sliced olives, drained
• 8 small plastic tumblers
• Tortilla chipsIn a small bowl mix taco seasoning with refried beans. Some people like to mix their taco seasoning with the sour cream, but I prefer a bright white layer for presentation so I mixed it with the beans instead. I first decorated my small, 9 oz plastic cups (I found at The Dollar Tree) with circle labels in the new “Football” style. Then I began to assemble each cup.
Assemble your seven layers as follows:
Layer 1: Beans
Layer 2: Guacamole
Layer 3: Sour Cream
Layer 4: Salsa
Layer 5: Cheese
Layer 6: Tomatoes
Layer 7: Olives & Green OnionAdd a few tablespoons of each layer, using a spoon to spread them evenly into each cup. If making ahead of time, wait to add the tomatoes, olives and onions until just before serving. Garnish with a tortilla chip and serve along with a bowl of tortilla chips (Juanita’s brand are my favorite).
Tips for making SPICY dip cups:
• Make your own salsa and guacamole with your “spicy” preference.
• Omit the olives and add pickled jalapenos (or have both).
• Use spicy refried beans instead of regular.
To make the day more festive and fun, I also ordered custom beer labels and coasters in the “Football” style. The great thing about this new style is that no matter who your favorite team is, you can find labels, tags and coasters in their team colors!
